Seasons Go and Seasons Come
Seasons Go and Seasons Come
14”x24” framed Original watercolor and ink landscape on Arches 140lb cold press watercolor paper
Here’s a snippet of my thoughts upon finishing Seasons Go and Seasons Come. The title is influenced by the song Steady as a Beating Drum from Disney’s Pocahontas.
“The transitional phase from summer to fall never ceases to flood me with energy, excitement, and deep sadness all at the same time. I long for the crisp chill in the air and long walks in the golden woods but I also feel the longing for the glow of the sun and the sand on my feet. Even though I’m no longer bound to school schedules, I grieve a little bit for the loss of freedom that summer represents…but not for too long. I loved living in this painting the past few weeks and it’s so hard to call it done because I feel like I could have just kept adding detail after detail but there’s a certain feeling you get as an artist when you know you’ve given it your all and any moment more wouldn’t be wise. Here to one season going and another coming [steady as the beating drum]”
The piece is mounted to mat board with water activated archival linen hinging tape to show the deckled edge of the paper. There is a 1/8” frame spacer between the glass and the work so that the paper does not touch the glass.
