Walking through Maxwell Mays Wildlife Refuge was a frequent pastime for me in 2017 and it was often the subject of my daily paintings at that time. I found myself looking toward new ventures that offered feelings of anxiety and excitement and this painting practice was a consistent meditation that reminded me of why I chose my journey. The unknown is always a magical place to explore and even through the anxiety I often find myself mystified by the growth I find there.
