The summer sun fades slowly in the distance and I float dreamily in my kayak feeling a complete connection with this place that I’ve been able to call home most of my life. In the stillness I can feel my ancestors smile back at me and the history that surrounds me feels rich and mysterious. Lost in my thoughts I am suddenly no longer aware if what I feel is the warmth of the summer heat or the comfort of belonging.
